About Biren

I'm a husband, a father of two, a huge fan of science fiction, and Chief Revenue Officer at Extra.

Professionally, I majored Biomedical Engineering at USC, and started my first company out of college. After that crashed and burned, I got my MBA from UCLA. I've worked in corporate finance at Western Digital, product management at Zynga and Disney, and been involved in quite a few startups (a few as a founder, more as a consultant in product management/BI/analytics). I also explored some wilder ideas along the way: science fiction writing, trading, and a small gaming-focused private equity venture.

Personally, I've always taken a bit of a philosophical approach to life--trying to understand what was going on around me in relation to the "big ideas". Maybe it was being the son of first-generation immigrants from India, but I got a sense early on that the patterns everyone around me were playing out were inherited and not the only way to live. It made for a confusing adolescence, but I hope I gained something worth sharing along the way.
